Tuesday 24th June 2025                               Circle Cricket Goes like Clockwork . . .

A quick explanation of how to play :-

Form a circle around the pitch starting from the wicket with the bowler central to the ‘clock dial’, each batter receives one over (6 balls) to score as many runs as possible without being bowled, stumped or caught. After their one over they move around the clock one position into next fielder, bowler, batter position – the wicket keeper is the next to bat.

Round 1

Mark was first in to bat and scored an impressive 8 runs (from 6 balls)

Ian B; 4 runs + 1 wide = 5 (from 7 balls)

Michael; 0 runs from his over

Ben; 2 runs and brilliantly bowled out by Sam

Sam; 0 runs and bowled out by John Y

   Matthew; 1 run and bowled out by Michael

Iain P; 6 runs from his over

Owen; 3 runs and bowled out by Vicky – Booooo!

Mark; 5 runs

Paul & Richard retire from the game

Ian C; 2 runs and bowled out by Peter

Ian B; 6 runs

Michael; 2 runs

With time & light against us we finished the evening with a half innings (3 balls per over) as follows :-

1st Innings      Team A – Batters, Ben & John did the scoring with two complete rounders each.

Team B – Bowlers, Mark, Richard & Susan did the honours.

Team B – Batters, didn’t fair so well with John Y making the only full rounder.

Team A – Bowlers, Rachel, Mark & Ben held them off.     Score – 4 vs 1

2nd Innings     Team A – Batters, failed to score any complete rounders.

Team B – Bowlers, Susan & Mark.Team B – Batters, John & Mark with one full rounder each and Ian B scoring two with some left handed fielder confusion.

Team A – Bowlers, Rachel & Ben.    Score – 0 vs 4

Overall Team B won the match with five full rounders vs Team A’s four.

Another great night with weather holding once again.

 

Tuesday 10th June –Cricket evening at Malton Cricket Club

1st Innings      Team A – Batters, Ian P & Paul were the standout players with 20 runs & 6 runs with Michael & Ben bringing the total to 31 runs.

Team B – Bowlers, Joe, Rachel & Ian B  took the 6 wickets, 3, 2, 1 respectively.

Team B – Batters, Joe & Ian C got the tins rattling with Jamie contributing a lovely 4 runs, eventually all out for 7.

Team A – Bowlers, Richard(2), Paul, Mark, Ben, Michael & Susan all taking wickets to see them off.

2nd Innings

Team A – Batters, Mark, Michael, Ian B & Ian P reaching 19 runs.

Team B – Bowlers, Hugo & John, Joe & Peter making shorter work of them this time around.

Team B – Batters, Hugo & John, Joe, Peter & Ian C matched the 19 runs to tie the innings.

Team A – Bowlers, Ben & Mark held them there.

Team A take the overall win with an amazing half century (50) runs to Team B’s 26.

Overall; a very enjoyable fixture.
